MOTOR CLEANING PROCESS
When your motor comes in, it is caked with over 100 years of built up debris including petrified grease, dirt, hair and metal shavings from gear wear. In this age of electronics, it's important to remember that these mechanical motors need servicing and to be free of all old matter and be clean to operate properly and to prevent further wear to the motor. Many times there are brass gears involved that will wear more quickly as the old debris acts like a pumice and is abrasive to soft metals.

Here is what most motors look like upon arrival:
We then take the motor apart and put it in the parts washer tank for a good scrubbing.  Every part of the motor is dismantled so we can get in every nook and cranny that you would not be able to get to at home without the complete dismantling and the parts washing equipment that we have. It is also a very messy process that makes it difficult and hard to do at home.

Your best choice is to have the full motor cleaning ($120.00) which includes the cast iron frame for a good complete serving. If you are on a budget or looking to re-sell the phonograph then we offer the  mechanical cleaning ($85.00) which gets all the essential parts cleaned (gears, bushings, bearings, shafts) which is better than not doing anything with the motor.

Once your motor is cleaned, it will operate for many decades to come free of the the old buildup and will last much longer with less gear wear.  Hard to believe that this is the same motor, isn't it?
