Edison Cylinder Player Bedplate Restoration and Cleaning

Upon inspection of many Edison Cylinder players, we have come to recommend that the bedplate be cleaned and restored. The bedplate is cast-iron with black enamel pain. Over the years, oil has been added repeatedly to the gears in topworks and dripped down onto the bedplate's finish. The oil, then attacts dirt and dust that hardens to the bedplate and on top of the original black paint. Over time the paint has a tendency to chip and/or rust, we can help in restoring these problems as well.

We have also seen many Edison bedplates with faded, worn or missing decals. We have a few restoration options for these types of problems. We can touch up the decals using a special decal pen or we can completely re-decal the bedplate for you.

Bedplate restoration is separate from topworks cleaning. The topworks cleaning estimated to you would only inlcude the gears, and moving parts of your topworks and a light clenaing of your bedplate. The actual bedplate restoration would include re-painting (if needed)and/or re-decaling of the bedplate. The bedplate restoration woul go a very long way towards enhancing the value and overall appearance of your machine.

The cost of our bedplate restoration is determined on a case by case basis depending on the amount of work required. For example, a bedplate that requires a complete overall (painting, decaling) will cost more than a bedplate that only needs a cleaning and a few decals touched up.

Price: Labor Fees plus cost of materials and decals (if needed)

Note: Decals are not available for all machines. If you want to know if a decal is available, feel free to give us a call. Please have the brand and model of your machine along with a discription of your decal.
